Guidelines for Fellowships of IUBMB Advanced School 2018——Frontiers in Infection-Associated Cancer

Three types of fellowships are available for graduate students and young scientists within 10 years of completion of their postgraduate degrees.

(Note that fellowship applicants will be able to register with the Early Registration rate up to 31 March 2018.)

1) FAOBMB Travel Fellowship (for non-Thai applicants)

Two FAOBMB Travel fellowships are available for qualified young biochemists and molecular biologists from FAOBMB member countries to attend and present their research findings at the IUBMB Advanced School in Bangkok, Thailand during 17-20 June 2018.

Successful applicants will be able to participate in the school at NO COST. FAOBMB will provide travel support of up to 1,000 USD and the organisers will provide accommodation and exemption of registration fee.

Applicants must meet the following conditions



  • The candidate must be a member of a Constituent Society or Group within FAOBMB. (A certification of membership from the Secretary or other responsible officer of the Constituent Member society must be attached to the application);

  • be a PhD/M.Sc. student, or a post- doctoral fellow / researcher / lecturer (within 10 years of completion of a postgraduate degree (graduated after 28 February 2008)) at an institute in any FAOBMB member country.

  • Travel Fellowships will not be awarded to candidates who have previously received a FAOBMB Travel Fellowship.

2) General Fellowship (for non-Thai applicants)

Ten fellowships are available for qualified young biochemists and molecular biologists from countries that have Adhering or Associate Adhering Bodies of IUBMB to attend and present their research findings at the IUBMB Advanced School in Bangkok, Thailand during 17-20 June 2018.

The successful applicants will be provided with free accommodation and exempted from paying the registration fee.

Applicants must meet the following conditions



  • The candidate must be a member of a Constituent Society or Group that is an Adhering or Associate Adhering Body of IUBMB (A certification of membership from the Secretary or other responsible officer of the Constituent Member society must be attached to the application);

  • List of Adhering or Associate Adhering Bodies of IUBMB is provided on the IUBMB webpage at https://iubmb.org/adhering-bodies-and-associate-adhering-bodies/

  • be a PhD/M.Sc. student or a post- doctoral fellow / researcher / lecturer (within 10 years of completion of a postgraduate degree (graduated after 28 February 2008)) at an institute in a IUBMB member country.
